Psychological Testing
Restored Life Counseling provides psychological and psychoeducational testing in Conway, Arkansas with Dr. Chrystal Johnston.
Testing may be helpful when a child, teen, or adult needs more clarity about ADHD, Autism, learning concerns, or emotional and behavioral symptoms. Many families are told to expect long community waitlists for testing. At Restored Life Counseling, testing consultations are often available much sooner.
-
ADHD testing may be helpful when attention, focus, impulsivity, organization, forgetfulness, restlessness, or emotional regulation concerns are affecting school, work, relationships, or daily functioning.
Ages: 6–59
-
Autism testing may be helpful when there are concerns related to social communication, restricted or repetitive behaviors, sensory differences, developmental patterns, emotional regulation, or difficulty understanding social expectations.
Ages: 5–21
-
Learning disorder testing may be helpful when a child, teen, or adult is struggling academically or there are concerns about reading, writing, math, processing, or school performance.
Testing recommendations may vary depending on age, concern, and clinical appropriateness.
How Testing Works
Testing begins with registration and an initial consultation. If testing is appropriate, forms are completed at home, reviewed by Dr. Johnston, and discussed at a results appointment.
-
Testing clients begin through the same TherapyAppointment registration process as therapy clients. When completing intake paperwork, please indicate that you are requesting psychological testing.
-
After your paperwork is complete, call our office so we can schedule an initial testing consultation.
-
This consultation helps Dr. Johnston understand the concern, determine whether testing is appropriate, and explain the next steps.
-
Testing forms are completed at your own pace at home. Forms may be returned by mail or dropped off at our office. Once forms are returned, Dr. Johnston reviews the materials and writes a full psychological report.
-
Our office will contact you to confirm your financial responsibility. Testing responsibility must be paid in full before the results appointment. At the results appointment, Dr. Johnston will review the findings, explain recommendations, and answer questions.
Insurance and Payment for Testing
Testing coverage varies by insurance plan, provider, network, diagnosis, and service type. Some plans may cover counseling but not psychological testing, and some plans may have different requirements for testing services.
The self-pay rate for psychological testing is $200 per hour if insurance does not cover testing services.
Clients pay for the initial consultation and results appointment at the time of service. After testing forms are returned and reviewed, our office will contact you to confirm the number of testing hours being billed. Testing responsibility must be paid in full before the results appointment.
For more details about accepted insurance, excluded plans, deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and payment expectations, please review our Insurance & Payment page.
Is Testing the Right First Step?
Testing is not always the first or best step for every concern. Sometimes therapy, school-based evaluation, medical evaluation, or another referral may be more appropriate.
The initial consultation helps determine whether psychological testing is clinically appropriate based on the client’s age, concerns, history, and goals.
If you are unsure whether you need therapy or testing, complete the new client registration process and call our office after your paperwork is complete. Our staff can help route your request to the right next step.
